Yoko CD signing for ‘Yes, I’m a Witch’ at the Borders Book Store in Manhattan, NYC on Saturday, February 10, 2007

The scene at Borders was orderly and very well organized. I was surprised to hear from the cashier that if you bought 3 Yoko CDs, the 4th one was free! After arriving by escalator to the 2nd floor where Yoko was to sign the CDs, I joined some of my Beatle friends who were already on the line. Security told us that we had to remove each CD booklet from the sealed case (not so easy if you cut your nails ‘the night before’) and have the store receipt ready.

Yoko arrived just before 2pm and took the very same escalator to the 2nd floor. She smiled and waved to the crowd as camera flashes went off and digital videos were rolling.

When I approached the security area for the CD signing, I was told that there was no photography allowed. All of my belongings were held, except for the CD booklets to be signed. While moving along in line, I passed more security personnel, and then walked down to a roped-off area where the last group of security guards were standing in front of Yoko. When it was my turn, one of the guards took the 4 CD booklets from me and handed them to Yoko, who was seated behind a desk. Yoko looked great!!! Unfortunately, I never got to shake her hand. As she started signing the CDs, I said the following to her:

“Regards from Sid Bernstein from the East Side. He sends his very best to you”.

“I do his photography work…Sid’s in Central Park every Saturday listening to music when the weather is warmer… in the springtime”.

The CD (below) is one of the four that Yoko signed for me. She used a silver marker.

Love,
    Yoko

Then, one of the security guards handed the signed booklets back to me, and Yoko said the following:

“Please tell him
I send him my love”.    (message for Sid Bernstein)

As I was leaving I said to her, “Best to you”. She kindly responded, “Thank you for coming”.
